I STARs share their love for UIUC and knowledge of campus by leading campus tours and events for prospective students and their families. I STARs assist our office with hosting 40,000+ visitors to campus yearly.
Apply
Our office hires on a semester basis for the spring semester and over the summer. We hire for the fall semester on an as-needed basis depending on staffing needs.
Our application is currently closed. It will reopen for summer positions on March 1.
Requirements
We seek to hire students with the following characteristics:
- Current undergraduates at UIUC
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Positive, enthusiastic attitude
- Self-motivated
- Good time-management skills
- Ability to represent UIUC effectively to numerous constituencies
- Capable of working in a team setting
- Strong sense of school pride
Responsibilities
- Welcome prospective students and families to campus as they check in
- Direct families around campus
- Give campus and classroom tours
- Serve on student panels for up to 900 guests
- Answer calls and work the front desk at the Office of Admissions and Records
- Prepare materials for visit programs
- Serve on student panels for virtual visits
- Assist with New Student Registration programming (summer only)
- Assist with video shoots, photo shoots, and social media efforts as needed
- Assist with other tasks as needed
