Planning Your Day

Make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring your NetID, NetID password, and an official photo ID to campus.

Parking for NSR has been set aside in Lot E14, which is located just off of Kirby Avenue. Admissions staff will be present to direct you to the buses that will take you to the Illini Union for check-in. You'll want to arrive 15-30 minutes early to ensure you have enough time.

Itinerary

Below is a sample itinerary so you can preview a typical day at NSR. You'll find events and timing for both students and guests to help you plan before you attend.

Program Check-In & Campus Resources Fair

Illini Union ABC
Students and guests will receive agendas for the day as well as materials for reference. Various campus organizations including Campus Recreation, Technology Services, Study Abroad, and more, will be available to answer questions until 9:00a.m.

University Welcome

Illini Union ABC & Ballroom
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions will provide a welcome to campus as well as an overview of the New Student Registration process. The Offices of Student Financial Aid and University Bursar will provide more information about their offices.

College Meetings

Locations subject to change
Students and guests will be walked to College Meetings at various campus locations. Colleges will provide an overview of college-specific information. Not all Colleges meet every day.

Illini Union ABC
New Student & Family Experiences will present on McKinley Health Center, Student Health Insurance, i-Card, mandatory new student programming, and more.

Lunch

Students will eat lunch at Illinois Street Residence Hall (ISR). Parents & guests will eat at the Illini Union. Up to two free guest meal vouchers will be provided at check-in.

Illini Union Second Floor Ballroom
Hear from the Bursar, Housing, UI Police Department, Dean of Students, Athletics, Illini Union Bookstore, and New Student & Family Experiences and ask any questions you may have.

Optional Activities

Students are encouraged to participate in the following activities with their new friends while guests attend their orientation sessions. Families may join each other after the last orientation session ends at 2:45 p.m.

Activities & Recreation Center Walk-Ins

Visit Member Services at the front entrance for information about facilities, schedules, programs, and services provided by Campus Recreation.

Cultural Centers Walk-Ins

2:00p.m.–4:00p.m., Various Locations

The Jeffries Center Open House

2:00p.m.–5:00p.m., 1103 West Oregon St., Suite E, Urbana
Students & guests are invited to meet Student Success Advisors, learn about tutoring and academic services, academic outreach, and more!
