It’s our job to
keep you safe.

We want you to feel comfortable here, and we go to great lengths to make that happen.

Students walking on campus, safely

We take a lot of measures to protect you.

Our police department works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with a student patrol for extra monitoring. We also take extra precautions throughout campus, including coded keys, emergency telephones, and bright lighting.

There are things you can do, too.

Use SafeWalks and SafeRides, free services on campus, when you’re traveling alone or when no other safe mode of transportation is available. You can also attend the safety programs and self-defense classes we offer.

If there’s an emergency, you’ll know.

Illini-Alert sends mass texts and email messages to keep you updated on emergency situations at Illinois. All you have to do is sign up when you get to campus!
